Round 6 – Match 3 Preview: Newcastle Knights v North Queensland Cowboys

After being well-beaten by the Tigers at home last week and with the loss of their star player Jonathan Thurston, the Cowboys will start this Saturday night as the underdogs currently at the long-odds of $3.65 with

North Queensland face the Knights this round, and even though Newcastle have only claimed one victory this year and were well beaten by the Rabbitohs last week they will start as the clear favourites.

The Knights have played some good footy this year and have been unlucky not to come away with a win after some of this season’s games and having the home ground advantage here means they will be hard to beat.

Another advantage for Newcastle this week is the much awaited return of instrumental skipper and fullback Kurt Gidley increasing their stocks even further here as Gidley brings back his brilliant direction and diversity.

It is difficult to see the low confidence Cowboys rise to the challenge and score enough points to cause an upset here without JT, hooker Aaron Payne and Bowen still out, so again we will stick to the favourites.

Current Head-to-Head Odds: Knights $1.30 – Cowboys $3.65
