Round 6 – Match 4 Preview: Sydney Roosters v Canberra Raiders

The previously in-form Roosters suffered a devastating loss at the hands of the Panthers last Sunday, but still with three wins to their name and the home ground advantage at Sydney Football Stadium this round they will start as the warm favourites against the Raiders.

Interesting that the Raiders are currently at the long odds of $2.60 with considering they travelled well last week and defeated the Eels by 10 at Parramatta Stadium.

Canberra have one of the biggest squads in the NRL and the ability to be a very impressive team, however their consistency has been a big problem.

It will be an interesting showdown as the Rooster’s talented fullback Todd Carney comes up against his old team, Canberra sacking him from their club two years ago, and rivalry is sure to be rife.

Tension and animosity between the two teams is further heightened as Canberra launched an attack over Sydney’s attempts to sign current Raider’s fullback, the in-form Josh Dugan, despite his contract not ending with Canberra until the end of next season.

So with battles going on between the Roosters and the Raiders on and off the field this will be a heated match not to be missed.

Despite the Rooster’s more impressive form, the size of Canberra’s forward pack and their confidence having defeated the Eels last week are things to watch out for.

It will be a great test for the Chooks to see if they can use the skills of Carney and Mitchell Pearce to hold off the visitors.

Current Head-to-Head Odds: Roosters $1.51 – Raiders $2.60
