NRL Round 7 – Match 8 Preview: Manly Sea Eagles v Gold Coast Titans

Monday night’s match will be another heated affair as Manly, currently sitting at number three on the NRL ladder, play the talented Titans at Brookvale Oval.

The Sea Eagles have been unstoppable recently and are looking good to secure their fifth consecutive win for 2010. Manly beat Melbourne last week, which will have drained them a bit, and other impressive wins this season included their 36 – 12 thrashing of the Knights and their 40 – 12 win over the Sharks.

The Titans too have four wins to their name this year, but have not been nearly as consistent as the Sea Eagles. Two big matches in a row, their four point win against Melbourne in Round 5 and last week’s 19 – 6 loss to the Dragons, has likely taken its toll on the Gold Coast.

With a number of star players out with injury including Mat Rogers who suffered a shocking knee extension last week, the Titans looks weakened in both the squad and confidence making it hard to see them conceive enough points to do any damage here.

There is some talk about the much missed Scott Prince returning this week after a lengthy recovery from a broken thumb, but whether that will be enough is questionable.

Last time Manly played the Gold Coast in September last year they smashed them 38 – 4 and unless the Titans recover and improve form very quickly a repeat defeat of the Titans looks on the cards.

Current Head-to-Head Odds: Manly $1.30 – Titans $3.60
