NRL Round 8 – Match 3 Preview: New Zealand Warriors v Canberra Raiders

In the first match on Saturday arvo, the Warriors host the Raiders at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland, and the New Zealand team will be thrilled to be back at home after their embarrassing 40 – 6 thrashing by the Melbourne Storm in Round 7.

The Warriors, current $1.48 favourites with, should be able to make up for last week and get a win here as the Raiders have been far too inconsistent this season to back them away from home.

They went down by only two points to the Rabbitohs last week, but that was playing in Canberra, and without the home ground advantage the Raiders look in trouble of suffering their sixth season defeat.

Canberra are a good and well-built squad, but without the ability to play a full 80 minutes of footy without fading out or to travel and win they will just keep on losing unfortunately.

New Zealand haven’t exactly been impressive this season either though, with four losses of their own including a 40 – 12 thrashing by the Panthers in Round 6, but they should be safe here if they can control the ball.

But if you think that the in-form Terry Campese and Josh Dugan can pull out some tricks and get the possession and the points over the home team, then the Raiders are at juicy odds of $2.65 at the moment.

Current Head-to-Head Odds: Warriors $1.48 – Raiders $2.65
