NRL Round 8 – Match 5 Preview: North Queensland Cowboys v Melbourne Storm

On Saturday night the Cowboys will host the controversial Storm at Dairy Farmers Stadium and with Melbourne eager to back up their big win ahead of the Warriors last round, and North Queensland boosted by the return of Thurston, this will be another great game.

The Storm salary cap scandal is now well publicised and they proved they were ready to fight for their pride last week, whether they can do it again away from home, however, is another matter.

The crowds up at Townsville are not likely to be as receptive of the Storm as their home fans were in Round 7 and so how they deal with this and whether the intensity of the last couple of weeks has drained them will be found out.

North Queensland have been far from impressive this season for a different reason, their inability to win. They are coming into this game on the back of three successive defeats after their 24 – 18 loss to the Eels last week.

They have the home ground advantage again this round, but it will be another tough match for them. Thurston having been back a week now will be back to his best, but will it be enough?

With everyone tipping Melbourne, the $1.67 favourites with, we will go against the grain and say that the Cowboys desperate for a win will show the Storm that pride is hard thing to play solely for and come away with an upset win.

Current Head-to-Head Odds: Cowboys $2.25 – Storm $1.67
