NRL Round 13 – Match 1 Preview: Canterbury Bulldogs v Wests Tigers

Round 13 begins with a big match at ANZ Stadium as the lacklustre Bulldogs host the in-form Wests Tigers under the lights on Friday night.

Right down in the number 13 spot, Canterbury have failed to come up with the goods over the last month or so, suffering their fourth consecutive loss last week when they went down to the Storm. This week they have another tough ask and don’t look in any better position to move up the ranks as they come up against a top six team, the Wests Tigers.

The Tigers have enjoyed a recent return to form over the last two weeks after an inconsistent start to the season with big wins against the Knights and their 50 – 6 thrashing ahead of the Warriors last week. Currently the hot $1.70 favourites through, Wests should hold strong here and continue their resurgence with their third straight win.

Canterbury have been very weak in defence and with the Tigers stars bringing back the razzle dazzle in their attack, this could be a messy home game for the Bulldogs.

The Doggies should improve on last week, however, as their big name Origin stars including Kimmorley, Ennis and Idris should be more settled and less strained than they were backing up from NSW’s loss in the Origin opener.

But no matter the improvement, we don’t think it will be enough to face against the likes of the Tigers top tryscorer last week Geoff Daniela and Lote Tuqiri starting to show some real pace.

However, there are still many fans getting onto the Bulldogs juicy $2.17 odds through convinced that Canterbury will make a comeback this week and put in a repeat performance of Round 6 when they beat the Tigers by 20 points.

Current Head-to-Head Odds: Bulldogs $2.17 – Tigers $1.70
