NRL Round 13 – Match 4 Preview: Sydney Roosters v Cronulla Sharks

On Saturday night the rising Roosters have a nice home game against the inferior Sharks at Sydney Football Stadium.

Despite a fairly hit and miss season so far, Sydney have managed to work their way up into the seventh spot on the ladder after their Round 12 victory ahead of the Gold Coast Titans.

Meanwhile Cronulla continue to linger at the bottom of the ladder having won only three from 11 for 2010, suffering another loss last week when beaten 20 – 4 by the steadily improving Broncos.

This is the first time these two have played this season, and it should be an easy win for the Roosters brimming with confidence after last week and the return of the talented Mitchell Pearce. The bookies think so too and have Sydney as the short priced $1.36 favourites, while only the most loyal of Shark fans would back them at $3.20 here.

If you are inclined to bet on the juicy priced underdogs then here is one consolation for you, the Roosters haven’t been able to post two consecutive wins since the opening two matches so on this theory they won’t back up with another after last week. But footy isn’t won or lost on paper or stats it is won on the field – be warned!

Cronulla are losing matches, losing confidence, losing their head coach and have their CEO on the way out too. They look set for a thrashing, especially if the Chooks bring the same strength they did against the Gold Coast.

The Roosters have plenty of players who can score points and they showed this in Round 12, and with a forward pack full of talent like Frank Paul Nuuausala, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Nate Myles making his 100th first grade appearance this week, they look hard to beat.

Current Head-to-Head Odds: Roosters $1.36 – Sharks $3.20
