NRL Round 16 – Match 3 Preview: Parramatta Eels v Brisbane Broncos

Saturday footy kicks off with a blockbuster between the Eels and the Broncos at Parramatta Stadium.

Head-to-head on the ladder the Eels are just outside the top eight in ninth spot while Brisbane are still in hanging in there as the number eight team. Parramatta have fallen off the radar a little of late losing their past three from four including their narrow 4 – 6 loss to the Knights last week.

The Broncs on the other hand, were the first team to string together five straight wins this season, but were unable to make it six from six as they lost 22 – 12 to the Panthers last Friday night.

Both teams will be very eager to win this one and make their finals claim and it should be a really exciting game. It is the turning point for one of these teams who will likely miss September if they lose.

The hardest of the round to pick, the bookies have both the Eels and the Broncos at equal odds, Ladbrokes.com.au currently paying $1.91 each.

Brisbane will be keen to get back to form and shake off last week, but the Eels do have the home ground advantage.

Really is a coin toss with all Origin reps back and fit, however Parramatta have suffered a blow as Timana Tahu will miss four weeks after accepting a ban for his reckless high tackle last week.

There is plenty of talent in both teams, but it is the young Broncos who have had everyone talking lately. If they can settle in and put their heads into the game then they look good to win, especially after a nice long turnaround.

A win for Brisbane to mark skipper Darren Lockyer breaking the 328 premiership game record set by Andrew Ettingshausen for most games played for a single club.
