NRL Round 18 – Match 2 Footy Tips: Sydney Roosters v South Sydney Rabbitohs

A brilliant foundation club clash plays out on Friday night when the Sydney Roosters host the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Sydney Football Stadium, a classic local derby definitely worth a punt on!

The Rabbitohs have crept up to number five on the ladder after their Round 16 win against the Storm and the two comp points they earned from last week’s bye, while the Roosters are still in the top eight sitting at number seven after their comprehensive 22 – 12 win ahead of the Raiders last week.

There are a number of factors to consider before placing your footy bet at Ladbrokes.com.au on this one, and ladder position is just one of them.

If the Roosters bring the same determination they did last week they should have plenty of points in them and playing at home gives them a nice advantage.

Meanwhile the loss of Issac Luke for the Rabbitohs is a big blow and with Dave Taylor on a short two day turn around after Origin, South Sydney look a little under strength.

The Roosters squad will also be affected by Origin’s testing Wednesday night match with Nate Myles and Mitchell Pearce coming back in.

Last time these two met back in Round 1 the Roosters enjoyed a big 36 – 10 victory and there is plenty of evidence that Sydney are the one to back again as long as they can hold onto the ball and not give the Rabbitohs any turnovers to score off.

Expect a number of Sydney’s points to come off kicks as Pearce, Carney and Anasta combined will produce plenty of grubber, bomb and cross-field kicking action.

A tough one to pick as Ladbrokes.com.au have the Roosters at $1.92 while the Rabbitohs are slightly shorter at $1.90, but without Luke we don’t see South Sydney giving Russel Crow any success here.

Footy Tip of the Match – Todd Carney to score Roosters first try at $8 through Ladbrokes.com.au

NRLleague Footy Tip of the Match:

With Carney comfortable back in five-eighth, in-form and fired up expect him to score. We are jumping on his $8 odds at Ladbrokes.com.au to be the first try scorer for the home team.
