NRL Round 19 – Match 4 Preview & Tips: Penrith Panthers v Parramatta Eels

Another classic Western Sydney clash takes place on Saturday night when Penrith face off against the Eels at CUA Stadium.

The Panthers have won four from their past five and are still number two on the ladder, but looked flat against the Warriors when beaten 12 – 6 last week. They will need to pick up the pace this week if they want to stay in the top two.

Penrith have the home ground advantage and face an Eels team struggling to find the same late season form that saw them play in last year’s Grand Final.

These two haven’t met since Round 25 last season when the Eels were looking far more dangerous and secured a massive 48 – 6 victory. The Panthers will be ready to seek revenge this time and look the stronger squad, which is why have them as the $1.55 favourites and the Eels at $2.45.

Parramatta are currently in the 10th spot on the ladder after a dismal month that has seen them lose to the Knights, Broncos and the Warriors. They finally got a win last week beating the Cowboys 36 – 24, but beating the last team in contention for the premiership and rising above the second-ranked Panthers are worlds apart.

Hayne, playing in his 100th NRL game this week, showed better form last week but whether he can make enough magic to match it with Jennings, Gordon and Coote is debateable.

If the Panthers get more creative with their attack and don’t just rely on tries from kicks, the Eels sure to have Luke Walsh well covered in this respect, then they can get enough points to win here and answer their critics after last week’s frustrating result.
