NRL Round 19 – Match 7 Footy Tips: Sydney Roosters v Canterbury Bulldogs

Another exciting Sydney derby continues the action of Rivalry Round when the Roosters host the Bulldogs at Sydney Football Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

This is an interesting one as the Roosters are fighting to stay in the top four after they bumped the Titans out last week, while the Bulldogs showed promise for the finals stringing their third straight win together in Round 18.

For many it is a shock to see Sydney in the top four as they have been one of the most inconsistent teams of the season, last week being the first time they won back-to-back games since the opening two rounds.

Since moving Carney back to five-eighth he has looked a lot more confident and the Chooks have been able to cause more damage, and with Nate Myles back this week they have even more strength.

The Bulldogs are currently in the 12th spot but after their important 20 – 18 win over the Storm last week they look to have gained some momentum, which should see them bring some stiff competition to this one.

Canterbury enjoyed their biggest win of the season when they thrashed the Roosters 60 – 14 back in Round 3, but a lot has changed since then and Sydney will be out to turn the tables here.

The average winning margin in the games between the Roosters and the Bulldogs has been a wide 25 points, so start looking at those winning margin wagers; Sydney to win by 19+ points is currently paying $6.50 through

Despite their Round 3 win and good recent form, the Doggies are the underdogs at $2.20 for a win at and we too like the home team and are jumping onto the Roosters $1.68 price.

This will be a big test for Canterbury to see if they really are back to their best, but we think they will fade in the second half despite a strong start and fail as the Pearce and Carney combo outscore and outlast the Bulldogs.

Big games for Braith Anasta playing in his 200th NRL match and Brett Kimmorley making his historic 300th first-grade appearance.
