NRL Round 20 – Match 2 Betting Preview: St George Illawarra Dragons v Gold Coast Titans

A big Friday night footy showdown will take place at WIN Jubilee Stadium this week with the dominant Dragons hosting the tenacious Titans.

The Gold Coast have more to play for than ever this week after losing three on the trot including last week’s disappointing 24 – 10 loss to the Broncos, which has seen them drop right down to the eighth spot on the ladder.

If the Titans go down on Friday night they will likely drop out of the top eight, and with less than two months till the finals action this is something they cannot afford.

They are in trouble however as they face the competition leaders, St George Illawarra flying high at the top of the ladder having won five of their past six including their close 16 – 13 win over South Sydney last week.

The Dragons look in a great position to pay out on the Minor Premiership markets at

The Titans suffered another blow last week when five-eighth Greg Bird came off with injury and will miss a month thanks to a torn hamstring. With Bird and Ashley Harrison (knee) both out, and playing away from home, the Gold Coast will have to dig really deep if they are to feature here, which is why they are the long-priced $3.65 underdogs at

They also have a poor record against the League leaders, having won just one of their past seven against the Dragons.

Although St George are at the very short odds of $1.28 for a win at, they are just too good to go past here and to hopefully make some extra cash we are putting a few exotic bets down too – see our Footy Tip of the Match.

Last week Jamie Soward and Jason Nightingale were all sensational, and with Mark Gasnier back and scoring the Dragons will lead and win at home.

Footy Tip of the Match – Dragons to win by 7 – 12 points in the ‘Winning Margin Spread’ at $5 through

NRLleague Footy Tip of the Match:

The Titans have scored just 10 – 16 points in their past three matches, while the Dragons scored 8 and 16 points in their past two so we think this will be a close one. Back in Round 6 the Dragons beat the Titans 19 – 6 and we think the score line will be similar here. We are going to try the ‘Winning Margin Spread’ markets, with the Dragons to win by 7 – 12 points at $5 through

Current Head-to-Head Odds:

Dragons $1.28 – Titans $3.65
