The marketing divisions mightn’t have been too thrilled with this one, but us and the rest of the footy fans around Australia can’t wait for this Monday night showdown between the Brisbane Broncos and the Sydney Roosters at Suncorp Stadium.
This is the first time in five years that the Chooks have played the Broncos at Suncorp and despite its Monday night timeslot, expect a big crowd for this one.
An important match for both teams as the seventh-ranked Broncos have their eye on the Roosters’ top four prize.
Brisbane enjoyed a tidy 24 – 10 victory over the slowly sinking Titans last week and are still one of our favourite teams of the year since their mid-season turn around. They will also be boosted by the recent resigning of boom youngster Corey Norman.
Sydney have also been impressive over the last few weeks winning their past three from three, including their thriller 36 – 32 win over the Bulldogs in the Rivalry Round.
With both teams in such good form it should be a really physical and exciting match, but at home the Broncos are our and the bookies’ favourites currently paying $1.55 for a win through Ladbrokes.com.au.
Earlier in the season when Brisbane were suffering a dead-slow start the Roosters got the better of them, but the Chooks will start as the underdogs away from home this time with Ladbrokes.com.au paying $2.45 for them to win at the moment.
Another bit of action to watch out for will be the showdown between the rival No. 7’s as Mitchell Pearce and Peter Wallace go head-to-head.
There are plenty of talent and points in the Sydney side with the likes of Todd Carney and Braith Anasta, but the spirited young Broncos guided by Lockyer and Thaiday look the pick here and if they win this and another two they will be making their 19th consecutive finals appearance.
Footy Tip of the Match – Jharal Yow Yeh to score first for Brisbane at $5.75 through Ladbrokes.com.au
NRLleague Footy Tip of the Match:
Brisbane fullback Josh Hoffman is doing some great stuff this season and having a hand in a number of their tries, but it is wingers Antonio Winterstein and Jharal Yow Yeh putting the ball down over the line. Last week Winterstein scored the Broncos first, so we are giving Yow Yeh the go this week and are betting on him to be the first tryscorer for the Broncos at $5.75 through Ladbrokes.com.au.
Current Head-to-Head Odds:
