NRL Round 21 – Match 2 Footy Tips: Penrith Panthers v North Queensland Cowboys

On Friday night the Panthers have a ‘must-win’ game against the Cowboys, Penrith narrowly hanging onto their top two spot and desperate not to be humiliated by a loss at CUA Stadium.

The Panthers are very lucky to still be sitting so high on the ladder after their recent slump has them coming into this one on the back of three losses including their 18 – 10 defeat by the Storm last week.

At home and playing the Cowboys, who have been the disappointment of the season, Penrith should be safe though – should be.

The Panthers’ chances are further aided by the return of playmakers Luke Walsh and Luke Lewis, adding a bit of danger to their attack that they’ve been missing recently.

North Queensland finally experienced an on-field win last week when they beat the Knights in a golden point extra time thriller, but before that they lost four in a row and playing away from home look in trouble again here.

The bookies have acted accordingly and the Cowboys are at the very long odds of $4.15 at while the favourite Panthers are paying $1.24.

Penrith hadn’t found their form back in Round 2 when these two played earlier in the season and so suffered a 28 – 20 loss, but the tables should turn this time and the big cats will be ready to pounce.

This is the time for the Panthers to prove they deserve their second spot and answer their critics, a loss here would be embarrassing to say the least, but we think they will come away ok and gain some confidence in time for the finals.
