What a treat this Super Saturday blockbuster will be. One of the most anticipated games of the round, the Eels are looking to continue their recent run of wins when they host the Roosters at Parramatta Stadium in front of a likely sold-out crowd.
As they did last season, the Eels have begun to surface just in time to make a run for the premiership having strung together three big wins over the past three weeks.
There is little doubt the Hayne train, the Hayne plane, whatever you want to call him, has been the one pushing Parramatta to the front.
Jarryd Hayne was impeccable last week, scoring two tries in the opening 10 minutes against the Bulldogs, and another fast start is needed here if they are to defeat the Roosters.
Sydney injected life into their season a month ago when they beat the Raiders and since then have been unstoppable winning their past four on the trot including a close one against the Broncos last week.
The Chooks are now in third position on the ladder, but if there is one team that can end their winning streak it is the Eels who are fighting their hardest to break into the top eight, currently sitting in 10th spot.
On a roll, brimming with confidence and playing at home will see Parramatta start as the favourites and Ladbrokes.com.au currently have them at $1.55 for a win, while the Roosters are out to $2.50.
Sydney have had plenty of points in them lately scoring between 18 and 38 points in all of their past eight thanks to talent like Todd Carney and Shaun Kenny-Dowall. The Eels too have been getting over that line lots of late, scoring over 30 points in each of their past three, so expect a high scoring affair!
The Eels look too good here as long as Hayne is in form, Sydney having a bad record on the back of short turnarounds like this and although they have come miles from the wooden spoon team from last year will be out of puff here despite the return of Mitchell Pearce and Nate Myles.
An entertaining showdown not to be missed. These teams are very tightly matched and it will be a high scoring game full of creative plays, but there won’t be much between them in the end – enjoy!
