NRL Round 21 – Match 4 Footy Preview: Wests Tigers v Cronulla Sharks

This is the perfect match for the Tigers to get back some confidence after they were knocked off their top three perch last week as they host the listless Sharks at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday night.

Still in the top four, the Tigers dropped a spot after they were well beaten by the Sea Eagles last round and at home in front of a big crowd they will be ready to roar back into form.

It should be an easy home win for the Wests here as they face the team sitting second last on the ladder, Cronulla handed their fourth consecutive loss last week by the Raiders.

It’s been a while between matches, the last time these two met was back in Round 23 last year when the Tigers smashed the Sharks 56 – 10.

Another big win is on the cards for the Black and Orange cats and it could be a very long night for Cronulla, which is why the Tigers are the $1.28 favourites at while the Sharks are at $3.75 for a win.

The Tigers are further strengthened by the return of big name players Gareth Ellis, Beau Ryan and Geoff Daniela. Ellis adds power to the back row, Ryan will be on the wing ready to pounce on any magic Marshall kicks and Daniela will inject fresh legs and possibly a four-pointer or two when he comes off the bench.

Like the Penrith v Cowboys match, a loss by a top four team at the hands of one of the worst in the competition would be humiliating, but is also very unlikely.

A good win here before the Tigers face one of the toughest runs home with games against the Rabbitohs, Panthers, Eels, Storm and Titans where they will need all the confidence they can muster.
