NRL Round 21 – Match 6 Preview & Betting: Melbourne Storm v Canberra Raiders

Footy fans will be treated to another gritty match definitely worth a punt on when the Melbourne Storm host the Raiders at AAMI Park on Sunday arvo.

Melbourne have been like a yo-yo lately with all the off-field drama making it harder and harder for them to put in a consistent effort every week.

After losing three in a row, the Storm found some form and beat the Panthers last week and will be looking to make it back-to-back wins here.

Canberra are one of a handful of teams who still have the smallest of hopes alive for the finals after winning three on the trot to move up 11th spot on the ladder.

If they win this they are still in the comp, but a loss will close the curtains on September footy this season.

This game really depends on which Storm outfit shows up and whether the Raiders travel well and play a full 80 minutes. Little doubt with so much on the line that Canberra will bring it, but what will they be facing?

Back in Round 10 Melbourne beat Canberra by 10, and the odds are in their favour again with installing the Storm as the $1.45 favourites.

There could be value in the Raiders at $2.80 through especially with the return of Dave Shillington, however be wary of them away from home and even though the size of the forward pack is imposing the Storm should have more strength and points in them via talent like Cronk and Inglis.

The stats are on the Storm’s side too with the Raiders losing 15 of the past 16 games played in Melbourne, but get ready for an aggressive battle as Canberra look to gain if not the respect then certainly the upper hand on the Storm.

While it is hard to pick there is plenty to look forward to including the showdown between fullbacks Slater and Dugan, start looking at those exotic betting markets!
