NRL Round 21 – Match 7 Footy Tips: Brisbane Broncos v St George Illawarra Dragons

Bennett is back in town on Sunday arvo when he brings his competition leaders to Brisbane to face off against the team he coached through all six of their Premiership wins.

The Broncos playing the Dragons at Suncorp Stadium is the ultimate Sunday footy showdown and sees Bennett celebrate his 599th first-grade game, a huge milestone.

St George look very close to snaring back-to-back Minor Premierships sitting at the top of the ladder four competition points clear of the closest rivals.

Fans that bet on the Dragons to win the Minor Premiership at will have their fingers crossed this late in the season

But the Dragons aren’t immortal as the Panthers and the Titans have proved over the last month both defeating St George in some tight clashes.

So there is definite hope for the Broncos this round. Hope for them to put the pressure on St George and rise above, and hope for them to make the finals despite falling out of the top eight after their loss to the Roosters last week.

Brisbane were embarrassed back in Round 5 when they lost 34 – 16 to the Dragons, but the young Broncos have come a long way since then and can win this if they dig deep.

The bookies, however, don’t give them much hope as the $2.15 underdogs at

A blow for Brisbane is the loss of Ben Te’o with an injured foot, but if the Dragons come to Suncorp expecting an easy win they will be in for a shock.

St George present real danger out wide with Jason Nightingale and Brett Morris, but if they don’t get the ball they can’t score and if Brisbane step up and shut down the likes of Darius Boyd they can put water on the Dragons’ fire.

Upset win by Brisbane to put their season back on track and put an end to the Dragons’ dominance at Suncorp, St George having won six of their past eight here.
