NRL Round 21 – Match 8 Betting Tips: Newcastle Knights v Manly Sea Eagles

The final match of Round 21 has a desperate Knights’ outfit hosting the on-fire Sea Eagles at Energy Australia Stadium on Monday night.

A definite end to Newcastle’s season looks almost certain with a loss here, which would be their third in a row after their big loss to the Raiders and then a close defeat at the hands of the Cowboys last week.

If the Knights can’t beat the lowly Cowboys in extra time then they look to have little hope of holding off a confident Manly, who moved up to the fifth spot on the ladder after their tidy victory over the Tigers last week.

Newcastle’s only hope is that they have the home ground advantage as they have won seven of their past eight games against Manly here.

But we think it will take a lot more than the support of their very vocal and loyal fans to get them through this as they are likely to be outmuscled by Manly for the second time this season.

When these two met back in Round 3 it was an easy 36 – 12 victory for the Sea Eagles, and looking at their form over the season this should be another cinch for the visitors by a decent margin.

The bookies agree and have the Sea Eagles as the pronounced favourites currently paying $1.46 for a win while the Knights, missing the injured Ben Rogers and James McManus, are at $2.75.

Manly are only just starting to reach their potential, utilising the physicality and size of their forwards and using their attitude and kicking game to win.

Newcastle might be able to get a few in out on the edges, but if Jamie Lyon performs even with half the power he did last week Manly will fly in and snare the two comp points giving coach Des Hasler his 100th victory as their coach.

Footy Tip of the Match – Manly to win by 19+ points at $4 through

NRLleague Footy Tip of the Match:

The Knights have been scoring 18 plus points each match over the last month, but it has been against teams that defensively aren’t as strong as the Sea Eagles. Manly have scored 56 points in just two weeks, and looking at the 24 point win they scored against the Knights earlier in the season we have our money on Manly to win by 19+ points at $4 through
