Two of the struggling Sydney sides will come face to face on Sunday arvo when the Knights host the Bulldogs at Energy Australia Stadium.
In 11th spot on the ladder, Newcastle were the surprise winners last round when they thrashed Manly 32 – 14.
The big win will have boosted their confidence coming into this one, but whether confidence will be enough armour is yet to be seen.
Maybe the fact they need to win four of their last five to make the finals will encourage them to bring the same impressive form they did last week.
Canterbury are also nearly out of the finals race despite posting an impressive 32 – 12 victory over Souths last round. To make the top eight the Dogs must win five straight starting here, can it be done?
To ‘Make the Top 8’ and payout for the punters that backed them at Ladbrokes.com.au the Dogs must win five straight starting here
Having played each other in the opening round this year, it was the Knights who came away with a narrow win.
With both teams scoring a relatively similar number of points over the past month, including last week when they both scored 32 points to win, it should be a tight result with plenty of tension.
One of the hardest games of the round to pick, which is why Ladbrokes.com.au have the teams at equal $1.91 odds.
Both coming off wins and scoring similarly this is a prime candidate for a golden point end.
Akuila Uate is in flying form and the Dogs will need to put the pressure on Newcastle out wide if they are to stop him from performing they way he did last week.
Even though the Dogs have pulled out some good wins, we think it will be the Knights to come away with the competition points here posting just their second set of back-to-back wins this season.
