On Friday night expect a very physical and entertaining match at Suncorp Stadium as the young Brisbane Broncos host the Eels.
The home side will need to have all of their defences in place for this top clash if they are to keep their spot in the top eight, currently sitting in seventh following back-to-back wins over the Dragons and the Cowboys.
Brissie are also due to play without their inspirational skipper Darren Lockyer after the veteran suffered a nasty rib injury last week that will see him miss two matches at this crucial time of year.
But the Broncos have played and won without Lockyer earlier in the season during the State of Origin so expect them to bring everything to this one.
Brisbane also enjoyed a boost of confidence during the week when Storm superstar Greg Inglis announced his signing of a two-year contract with the club.
The Eels look to be the most desperate team in the NRL right now after two straight losses, two thrashings in fact, have seen one of the early Premiership fancies drop down to 12th on the ladder.
This is do or die for Parramatta and they won’t go out without a fight especially with co-captain Nathan Cayless looking to celebrate becoming the most-capped skipper in the NRL breaking Brad Fitler’s record of 216 games as captain.
Despite the Eels desperation, the Broncos at home with so many young stars proving their potential including Gillett and Yow Yeh they are just too hard to go past.
The bookies agree and Brisbane are the $1.75 favourites at Ladbrokes.com.au while the Eels are out to $2.08.
A win for Brisbane could see them head towards a top four finish for the season and that is exactly what we are expecting as Suncorp has been a bogey ground for the Eels recently, Parra having won just three of their past 11 matches up there.
