NRL Round 23 – Match 6 Preview & Tips: Melbourne Storm v South Sydney Rabbitohs

One of the best clashes of the Round takes place on Sunday arvo when the Storm host the miracle-making Rabbitohs at AAMI Park.

Melbourne were well beaten by the Sea Eagles last week at Brookie so will enjoy being back home this round.

But the Storm will also be shaken after the announcement Greg Inglis is the first of the ‘Fab Four’ to jump ship signing with the Broncos during the week.

Brett White has also announced his departure from the club next season, so there has been plenty of emotion flying around, but whether this proves to weaken or strengthen the Storm will be made clear on Sunday.

The Storm can see the end of this horror season, but the teams they are left to face won’t make it an easy exit especially the Bunnies.

South Sydney scored the upset win of the round last week when they held on without 12 of their first-choice players to beat the Tigers in the 90th minute.

The win will have boosted their confidence and reignited their finals hopes, as they sit just outside the top eight in ninth spot.

Back in Round 16 when these two last faced off it was the Rabbitohs who snared a narrow two-point victory and with the right attitude they can win again here.

It was the first time Souths had beaten the Storm from their past nine encounters, but they are still Melbourne’s ‘bunny’ side, so this will be a beauty to watch and have a punt on.

South Sydney are still a weakened outfit with plenty of personnel on the sidelines, but with rookie centre Dylan Farrell scoring a hat-trick on debut last week, they still have plenty of points in them and their never say die attitude is impressive.

Sam Burgess, Beau Champion land Colin Best are all due back for the Rabbitohs this week and this, combined with the distractions the Storm have had through the week, could be enough for the visitors to win.

A close clash but we are tipping an upset and are backing the Rabbitohs at $2.75 through to win their first ever match in Melbourne and give fullback Rhys Wesser something to celebrate for his 200th NRL match.
