NRL Round 23 – Match 8 Preview & Betting: St George Illawarra Dragons v Manly Sea Eagles

Saving the best till last, the match of Round 23 takes place on Monday night with the competition leading Dragons hosting the rising Sea Eagles at WIN Jubilee Stadium.

Sure to be a physically full-on fight, this Monday night showdown has footy fans around Australia excited and rightfully so.

St George are looking closer than ever of securing back-to-back Minor Premierships following their important win over the Roosters last week and are four competition points clear of their closest rivals on the ladder.

Enjoying the home ground advantage this week, the Dragons will be looking to cement their first spot once and for all by shutting down the Sea Eagles.

But it is a determined and confident Manly outfit that will travel to WIN Stadium on Monday night and don’t expect them to go down without a fight.

Manly were excellent when beating the Storm by 20 last week, but before that they lost to the Knights and have had issues with consistency this season.

Looking at the past month, the Sea Eagles have been outscoring the Dragons every week and were able to do so when they faced off back in Round 9.

With the right attitude Manly can win this at good $2.65 odds through Ladbrokes.com.au, but it will be tough to topple Bennett’s boys at home especially as St George are the leaders in presenting physical defence.

The Sea Eagles also lost prop Josh Perry for the rest of the regular season after he dislocated his knee last week.

Despite Manly’s claims we aren’t going to go past the Dragons at home who are in-form following their gritty win over the third-ranked Roosters last week, so are sticking with the $1.48 Ladbrokes.com.au favourites here.

History is on our side too as the Sea Eagles haven’t been able to win at Kogarah since 1997, so if they did cause an upset it would be a real triumph.

Footy Tip of the Match – Dragons to win by 19+ points at $3.80 through Ladbrokes.com.au

The past three times these two sides have met, the winning margin has been between 18 and 32 points so we are tipping a blowout and are backing the Dragons to win by 19+ points at $3.80 through Ladbrokes.com.au.
