Tonight two teams who are on life-support when it comes to making the finals face off at ANZ Stadium as the Rabbitohs host the Eels.
The Bunnies sit 10th on the ladder on 24 comp points and if they win their last two and results of other matches involving the Broncos, Raiders and Knights go their way, there is still a slim chance they will play in the finals.
The same applies for the 12th ranked Eels who are at $7.50 to Make the Top 8 at Ladbrokes.com.au, despite having lost three of their past four matches.
Souths are coming off two losses, one to the Storm and then last week’s 54 – 18 thrashing by the Panthers.
Although the Bunnies have the home ground advantage, they were left shell-shocked early by Penrith last week and have a lot of improvement to make to hold off the Eels.
These two last met back in Round 6 where the Eels enjoyed victory, and they are the favourites to do so again paying $1.55 to win at Ladbrokes.com.au while the Rabbitohs are at $2.50.
The Bunnies have suffered through some serious injury issues over the past month and are still a weakened outfit again here following Beau Champion breaking his leg last week, Champion to be replaced by rookie Dylan Farrell.
The Eels lost by just two thanks to Burt missing an easy shot at goal that would have taken them into overtime last week, and will be looking to atone for this by lifting their game.
Five-eighth Mortimer is also back for Parra after being dropped from their past two matches and will be ready for a big one to prove he deserves to star in the starting line-up and Ben Smith returns from a two-match ban further boosting their credentials.
Parramatta definitely look the pick here. Both have been scoring similar points per match lately, so expect a close one.
