Footy fans around the country were kept on the edge of their seats all weekend as the first week of the 2010 NRL Telstra Premiership finals played out and the four matches featured everything we love about the game from big hits, biffs, try-scoring blitzes and one of the longest golden point extra time matches we’ve ever seen!
The results of the qualifying finals have seen two teams finish up for the season with the Warriors out for the count after going down to the Titans on Friday night, and the Sea Eagles sent packing by St George after the Dragons kept them scoreless in Sunday’s showdown.
The Gold Coast and St George both get to enjoy a week off thanks to their dominant wins and will be back to battle it out in the third week of the finals with the two winners of this weekend’s semis.
The other two week one qualifiers were nail-biting thrillers decided by just a few points.
In the SFS super clash on Saturday between the Tigers and the Roosters, no one could have predicted just how entertaining things would get as over 97 minutes of footy Sydney eventually came away victorious.
Then after the Raiders caused an upset defeating the Panthers by just two points, teams number two (Penrith) and three (Wests) on the ladder must now fight for their life this week.
