2012 NRL Season – Round 4 Results & Wrap-Up

The first four weeks of the 2012 NRL Telstra Premiership are now done and dusted, Melbourne Storm the new leaders on the NRL ladder after they ran away with Round 4’s biggest winning NRL Result.

Melbourne barely had to try on Sunday arvo when they annihilated the Sydney Roosters 44 – 4 at AAMI Park, the Storm the only team to record eight competition points so far.

The big win by Melbourne and the Canterbury Bulldogs 20 – 6 loss to the Newcastle Knights at ANZ Stadium on Sunday saw the Doggies knocked off top spot.

The other massive victory from Round 4 came on Friday night at Parramatta Stadium when the visiting Penrith Panthers put 39 points on the Parramatta Eels’ measly six to keep Parra winless in 2012.

Brisbane and St George, who will come head-to-head at Suncorp Stadium this Friday night, also meet Canterbury on six points following their Round 4 wins.

The Brisbane Broncos travelled to Perth for a showdown with a rejuvenated South Sydney Rabbitohs side and overcome horrendous decisions and injuries, most notably a compound fracture in the early stages of the game that has ruled star winger Jharal Yow Yeh out for the season, to score a 20 – 12 victory on Friday night.

The St George Illawarra Dragons played on Saturday night and scored a deserved 17 – 6 win over reigning premiers Manly, the Sea Eagles now having lost two on the trot.

There were three roughie wins in Round 4 with upsets going to the Cronulla Sharks who got the better of the North Queensland Cowboys up in Townsville, the aforementioned Knights getting up over the Bulldogs, and the Canberra Raiders who handed Wests Tigers their third loss in four games on Monday night.
