The progressive Melbourne Storm are the clear cut favourites in the future NRL odds at bookies around the country following the 2012 Telstra Premiership Heritage Round 5 results.
Melbourne are undefeated this season thanks to their most recent 34 – 22 victory over the Newcastle Knights at AAMI Park on Friday night and they don’t look like slowing down.
Sitting at the top of the NRL Ladder the Storm pay $4.40 in the latest NRL Telstra Premiership winning markets at our No. 1 recommended bookie bookmaker.com.au.
Following the undefeated Storm are then the Canterbury Bulldogs and the determined Brisbane Broncos on eight competition points apiece, both teams Round 5 NRL winners.
Brisbane, backing up from a tough game in Perth against Souths, came home to a big Suncorp Stadium crowd on Friday night and didn’t disappoint.
What started as a mudslide, Brisbane leading the St George Illawarra Dragons 24 – nil at halftime, turned into a thriller with the red n’ white fighting back to post 20 points to the Broncos’ eventual 28 in the 20th Anniversary of the 1992 Grand Final.
Broncos are the $7.50 second picks to win the overall NRL Premiership title in 2012 through bookmaker.com.au.
The Bulldogs meanwhile beat a struggling Gold Coast Titans outfit 30 – 20 at Skilled Park on Sunday arvo.
There were upsets aplenty in Round 5 too with outside backers well rewarded in all three of the Saturday night matches.
Firstly the Cronulla Sharks got up over the Penrith Panthers by one point in a gripping 15 – 14 showdown, the Sharks’ third on the trot, followed by the Sydney Roosters beating a tiered looking New Zealand Warriors 26 – 8.
But the big shocker of the round was hands down when the Parramatta Eels won their first of the year beating a slipping Manly Sea Eagles 29 – 20 at the Eels’ home stadium.
Round 5 came to a close on Monday night with another roughie win, the North Queensland Cowboys improving on last week’s shock loss to the Sharks at Townsville when travelling to Canberra and beating the Raiders 22 – 6.
