2012 NRL Round 17 Results & Wrap-Up

We are heading towards the pointy end of the season now with 17 rounds of the 2012 NRL Telstra Premiership done and dusted, Round 17 throwing up a number of huge wins and upsets as the State of Origin depleted teams struggled to stay in touch this week gone.

Things kicked off at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night with a Todd Carney and Paul Gallen-less Cronulla Sharks outfit smashing the young Brisbane Broncos 26 – 12.

All five of our NRL Round 17 Tips were correct and punters that took our tips online at bookmaker.com.au really cleaned up!

Brisbane just couldn’t match the Sharkies in either attack or defense without seven of their Origin stars including skipper Sam Thaiday, big Petero Civoniceva, Ben Hannant and Justin Hodges.

The loss saw Brisbane drop down to fourth spot on the NRL Ladder, Cronulla up into third position.

Saturday night’s NRL results went the way of the odds with the Newcastle Knights keeping the Parramatta Eels on just three wins for the season with their 20 – 12 victory over the home squad.

Then on Sunday the South Sydney Rabbitohs enjoyed a massive 38 – 12 success, albeit only over a struggling Penrith Panthers outfit, followed by the North Queensland Cowboys bitter 35 – 18 loss at the hands of the New Zealand Warriors at Mt Smart Stadium.

It was a disappointing effort for the Cowboys who ran away to a 16 – 0 advantage early before the Warriors chased them down and blew the visitors out of the park.

Round 17 finished off on Monday night with the Canberra Raiders bouncing back to score just their sixth win for the season this time getting the better of the St George Illawarra Dragons in a 22 – 18 thriller, the Green Machine trailing 18 – 16 with three minutes left on the clock before Reece Robinson won the game with his third four-pointer of the night.
