NRL Round 21 Results 2012 & Review

There were upsets aplenty in Round 21 of the 2012 NRL Telstra Premiership and the Top 4 on the ladder has officially been shaken up.

The high-flying Canterbury Bulldogs are now firmly leading the race towards the minor premiership with 32 competition points after posting their ninth straight victory on Saturday night with a gutsy 32 – 18 win over the North Queensland Cowboys.

Behind the doggies is then the similarly impressive South Sydney Rabbitohs (30 points) who had an easy time on Sunday arvo stomping out the rapidly dropping Wests Tigers (now 10th on the ladder) 32  – 6.

Melbourne Storm failed to get out of their mid-season slump in Friday night’s opener when going down 26 – 18 to the now 11th placed Dragons.

They have dropped to third spot after losing five straight, how much further will the one-time premiership favourites slip?

Despite their loss to Canterbury North Queensland remain inside the Top 4 thanks to the loss of their Queensland brothers in Brisbane.

In another shocker from the out of form Broncos, now in fifth, Anthony Griffith’s boys lost their third game from their past four appearances, this time receiving a nasty 42 – 22 hiding from the Parramatta Eels on Monday night at Suncorp.

Whatever they’re doing differently (coach?) at the Eels over the past two weeks is working for the likely wooden spooners who also beat Melbourne last week.
