NRL Telstra Premiership Round 22 Results

Round 22 of the 2012 NRL Telstra Premiership is done and dusted with the Top 8 really starting to take shape now ahead of the semis that start is just four weeks’ time.

The high flying Canterbury Bulldogs still sit firmly at the top of the NRL Ladder after the Round 22 results thanks to their incredible 10th win on the trot in 2012 defeating the Newcastle Knights 26 – 10 at Hunter Stadium on Saturday night.

Canterbury are now odds-on at $1.16 to win the Minor Premiership in the NRL odds at bookmaker.com.au and are rated a $4 chance in the overall futures NRL Premiership betting markets.

The second ranked South Sydney Rabbitohs are also on a roll with six straight victories and counting after their 22 – 18 win over the Gold Coast Titans at Skilled Park on Sunday arvo.

The loss by the Titans and the subsequent 51 – 26 victory by the Wests Tigers over the Parramatta Eels the next night has seen the Gold Coast just miss out on eighth spot at the end of Round 22.

In a club record for most tries scored in a single match the Tigers’ Monday night victory, their first in three weeks, saw the one-time Minor Premiership favourites get back in touch with a semis bid.

Another high-scoring affair from the week was the Melbourne Storm’s confidence boosting 46 – 6 annihilation of the Penrith Panthers at AAMI Park on Saturday afternoon.

Clinging to the third spot on the ladder, the Storm broke a five game losing streak with their Round 22 success and will be looking to keep the momentum going this Friday night when they play the Titans at AAMI Park again.

The other big Round 22 winners points-wise were the currently fifth-ranked Cronulla Sharks who made a mess of the hit-and-miss New Zealand Warriors (13th) 45 – 4 in front of a devastated Kiwi crowd at Mt Smart Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile the Brisbane Broncos’ late season slump continued when they lost their third straight this time going down 28 – 12 in a shocker against the Canberra Raiders down in the country’s capital on Sunday.

Brisbane have slipped right down to seventh on the ladder and need to get their act together quickly as they take on the toughest team in the comp this Sunday playing the Bulldogs down in Sydney for Round 23.

The other sunshine state crew meanwhile are now in sixth spot after the North Queensland Cowboys narrowly lost  8 – 6 in a tight affair with the Manly Sea Eagles at Dairy Farmers on Saturday night.
