Teams with a bye this week are: Canterbury Bulldogs and Gold Coast Titans.

Upset Round 16 Tip: Dragons ($2.65) to beat the Storm on Monday night through Ladbrokes.com.au

Kicking things off are then two ace Friday night features.

Friday June 27, 2014

Manly Sea Eagles ($1.83) v Sydney Roosters ($2.02)

Brookvale Oval (7:40pm)

In Sydney it’s a battle of the birds in Sydney with competition leading Manly Sea Eagles hosting the fourth-ranked Sydney Roosters at Brookvale Oval in a must watch top-of-the-table clash.

It’s the second time these two have come up against each other since they played in last year’s Grand Final.

Awesome to watch, tough to pick and even though they take on a better strength Manly crew at home think the Roosters can win.

  • Tip: Roosters to rule the roost and beat Manly by 4 points

Brisbane Broncos ($1.22) v Cronulla Sharks ($4.50)

Suncorp Stadium (7:40pm)

Then in Brisbane the Broncos will be out to bounce back after their winning streak came to an end over in New Zealand at the hands of the Warriors last weekend.

Brisbane are sixth on the ladder and eager to stay in the Top 8 with a home win tonight, something that should look pretty much a given as they host the year’s worst team – the Cronulla Sharks.

However Cronulla are out to break the drought and the Broncos are depleted missing the likes of Parker, Gillett and McCullough so are vulnerable.

Still The Sharks haven’t scored once in their past three matches so Brisbane should be okay at home even with their outs.

  • Tip: Brisbane to continue the Sharks’ woes with a 16 point victory

Saturday June 28, 2014

Wests Tigers ($1.25) v Canberra Raiders ($4.10)

Campbelltown Stadium (5:30pm)

Saturday there are two on the cards with Wests Tigers hot favourites to defeat the Canberra Raiders who couldn’t win at home last Friday night going down 22 – 14 to the Bulldogs.

Tigers meanwhile enjoyed a bye so should be fresh and at full strength.

They are also the team the Raiders most hate to play holding a big 9 – 1 advantage over them since 2008.

  • Tip: Easy Tigers win over the Green Machine by at least 12 points

North Queensland Cowboys ($2.65) v South Sydney Rabbitohs ($1.50)

1300 Smiles Stadium (7:30pm)

The other match then takes place up in North Queensland with the Cowboys outsiders to hold off a Rabbitohs invasion.

Cowboys are in trouble after back-to-back losses have them 11th on the ladder while the Bunnies are looking for their fifth straight victory sitting comfortably in third.

NQ need to win in front of the home crowd to stay in touch with the semis but they’re missing some serious arsenal with the likes of the injured Tate and Scott so don’t think they’ll hold off Souths.

  • Tip: Bunnies to hop to victory over NQ by 6 points

Sunday June 29, 2014

New Zealand Warriors ($1.60) v Penrith Panthers ($2.40)

Mt Smart Stadium (2:00pm)

Sunday afternoon the 10th placed Warriors get their second home game in as many weeks with Mt Smart hosting the Penrith Panthers in a genuine thriller.

Warriors have patchy Win-Loss form but have been very good including their 19 – 10 win over the in-form Broncos last week.

Penrith meanwhile had a bye last week but are still second on the ladder with a string of victories they’ll be looking to extend here, but in the freezing cold conditions across the Tasman playing a side that’s full of confidence of late they could be in trouble.

  • Tip: Warriors to end the Panthers winning streak in a 4 point thriller

Parramatta Eels ($1.50) v Newcastle Knights ($2.65)

Pirtek Stadium (3:00pm)

Also on Sunday the Parramatta Eels (8th) take on the Newcastle Knights (15th) and are firm favourites to find the chink in their visitor’s armour and gain back some confidence after getting thrashed 46 – 20 by the Storm in Melbourne last week.

Knights got some pride back beating the Cowboys 36 – 28 last week but whether they can string together back-to-back wins is very questionable.

  • Tip: Eels to slay the Knights by 8 points

Monday June 30, 2014

St George Illawarra Dragons ($2.65) v Melbourne Storm ($1.50)

WIN Stadium (7:00pm)

The last of the round has the Dragons outsiders to hold off the Storm at WIN Stadium.

St George held on to narrowly beat the Gold Coast by one point last Sunday (19 – 18) but aren’t tipped to win again here taking on Melbourne who will still be on a high after their 46 – 20 smashing of the Eels.

Dragons came close back in Round 6 in a narrow loss to Melbourne and will love playing at home without Cronk in the picture this time. Upset on the cards?

  • Tip: Dragons to score the upset of the round and beat the Storm by 2 points
