2015 NRL Round 5 Draw & Tips

We’ve had the opening month of the 2015 NRL Telstra Premiership and this Easter long weekend we move into Round 5 with just one unbeaten team remaining.

The Newcastle Knights are the surprise ladder-leaders with a perfect four-from-four record snagged after a win over Penrith last Saturday.

They are still at a juicy $17 through Ladbrokes.com.au however in the overall NRL Premiership 2015 betting markets, a long way to go between now and NRL Grand Final day.

Former top fancies for the Premiership, the South Sydney Rabbitohs suffered a shock loss to Parramatta last Friday night and have slipped to third on the NRL ladder and second favourites ($4.75) behind the Sydney Roosters ($4.50) to take out the Premiership.

The Bunnies get a chance to atone in Round 5’s opening blockbuster on Good Friday afternoon in a Grand Final rematch against the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs, can they return to the winners’ stall?

NRL Round 5 Draw

Friday April 3, 2015

Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs ($2.40) vs South Sydney Rabbitohs ($1.60)

ANZ Stadium (4:00pm AEDT)

Fourth vs Third on the ladder in the 2014 Grand Final rematch that looks too hard to call despite the odds firmly in favour of the Bunnies who suffered their first season loss in an upset to the Eels last week. Think they’ll get there though thanks to big Greg Inglis #star.

Gold Coast Titans ($2.45) vs Brisbane Broncos ($1.57)

Cbus Super Stadium (8:35pm AEDT)

Bennett’s boys finally are on track and shoot for their fourth on the trot here after a solid win, hanging on after the score went to 16-all to win 24 – 16 over the Warriors last week in New Zealand. Queensland Derby down the Golide but the Titans aren’t offering up match competition.

Saturday April 4, 2015

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles ($1.55) vs Canberra Raiders ($2.45)

Lavington Sports Ground (5:05pm AEDT)

Manly have been one of the season’s big disappointments and lost to the Dragons last week to slip even further down the ladder, but surely they can get the better of the Green Machine here.

Newcastle Knights ($1.40) vs St George Illawarra Dragons ($3)

Hunter Stadium (7:30pm AEDT)

The ladder-leading Knights are the only team boasting four straight wins and no defeats this season. They are shorties at Ladbrokes to keep the winning streak going too playing St George who will have a tougher time overcoming Newcastle at home here.

Sunday April 5, 2015

Sydney Roosters ($1.17) vs Cronulla Sutherland Sharks ($5.50)

Allianz Stadium (5:00pm AEDT)

Really the odds here should read $1.01 vs $10 because the Sharks won’t win this. The Chooks are current Premiership favourites and absolutely smashed the Raiders (34 – 6) last week. The Sharks are last on the ladder meanwhile and without a win, nothing changes here.

Monday April 6, 2015

Parramatta Eels ($1.80) vs Wests Tigers ($2.05)

ANZ Stadium (4:00pm AEDT)

The Eels were the shock winners over the Bunnies, the first team to beat the reigning Premiers, last Friday night and get a nice long turnaround into this match against a young and improving Tigers’ outfit. Wests went down in Golden Point by the field goal to the Bulldogs despite leading 16 – nil at one point so will need to learn the lesson to hold off Parra.

Melbourne Storm ($1.40) vs New Zealand Warriors ($3)

AAMI Park (6:00pm AEDT)

There were two Golden Point games in Round 4 including the Storm losing to the Cowboys up in NQ last Monday night. Melbourne get the chance to atone at home here. They get the home ground advantage and the Warriors come off a loss back in NZ to the Broncos so the Storm get the tick.

Penrith Panthers ($1.55) vs North Queensland Cowboys ($2.50)

Pepper Stadium (8:00pm AEDT)

The Cowboys finally got a win on the board but play in their third straight Monday night match here, something they’re constantly crying about. Penrith are the favourites at Pepper Stadium and think the visitors will find it too tough travelling to post back-to-back wins.
