NRL Week 2 Finals Draw
Friday September 18, 2015
Sydney Roosters ($1.40) vs Canterbury Bulldogs ($3.15)
Allianz Stadium (7:55pm)
The Bulldogs have their work cut out for them if they are to take down the Roosters who have won the past three Minor Premierships and who are looking for a second Grand Final win in three years after their 2013 victory over Manly. Canterbury only just scrapped through to knock out the Dragons last week and weren’t able to post many points against St George, not a good sign coming into this. Historically the stats on Hasler help as he has never coached a club to a week one finals win who didn’t subsequently appear in that year’s GF. The Chooks play without injured co-captain Mitchell Pearce (hamstring) who failed to pass a fitness test this week, but there should be enough speed on their outsides and depth in their squad to see them rise to semi-final level and take on Brisbane next week.
Saturday September 19, 2015
North Queensland Cowboys ($1.42) vs Cronulla Sharks ($3.05)
1300 Smiles Stadium (7:40pm)
The Cowboys lost to Brisbane in a finals match for the first time ever last Saturday night, the Broncos’ defence too good. Now while their big brothers get a rest knowing there is just one more game to win before Grand Final Day on the first weekend in October, North Queensland head home to Townsville to host the Sharks. Cronulla were impressive with a big, confidence boosting win over South Sydney last week but with GI barley making an impact the Bunnies were never going to be hard to beat. NQ at home will be a much tougher task for the Sharks, but they are at full strength and if you are looking for an upset these are juicy odds for Cronulla to end the Cowboys’ run to their first Grand Final appearance in 10 years.
