State of Origin Game 1 is done and dusted with Queensland victorious meaning we’re back to a full eight-match week for Round 14 of the NRL Telstra Premiership 2016.
Upset NRL Round 14 Tip: Tigers to beat the Bunnies @$2.60 through Ladbrokes.com.au on Friday night
Things kick off on Thursday night with former ladder leaders the Brisbane Broncos looking to atone for a rough few weeks with a home win at Suncorp Stadium over the Canberra Raiders.
Brisbane were woeful last week suffering another loss that saw them drop to fourth on the NRL Ladder having failed to handle the trip to NZ going down 36 – 18 to the Warriors.
This is the time of year New Zealand fans love, with their side untouched by Origin selection and capitalising on those club’s ravaged by representative selection.
The Broncos were that side last Saturday, but will be out to atone this Round welcoming back the likes of McGuire, Oates and Gillett to the line-up.
Still, the Raiders are in flying form and enjoyed a Friday night win last weekend over the Eagles.
Canberra are now sixth on the ladder and a win on Thursday, and other results going their way, could see them sit ahead of Brisbane.
Their record at the old Lang Park is pretty woeful and they have won just one of their past eight matches played at the venue since 2005.
Friday night the Wests Tigers and South Sydney Rabbitohs face off at ANZ Stadium, both sides coming off losses last weekend.
The Bunnies are the best in betting despite failing to make it three wins on the trot with their loss to the Titans in Round 13, but Wests could be a nice roughie pick of the week.
Three Saturday matches include a top eight clash between the Eels (5th) and the Gold Coast (8th) who are looking to make it four straight wins, and the 15th-ranked Roosters in a tough test against the Melbourne Storm who are now second in the competition after an easy 24 – 6 victory over Penrith last weekend.
Undoubtedly the week’s highlight match doesn’t take place until Monday night when the top-of-the-table Cronulla Sharks host the reigning premiers North Queensland at the Shire.
The Sharks are flying including their two point win over the Bulldogs last Monday night and get a full seven days between matches.
The Cowboys meanwhile are still third on the ladder even after the rep season has started and looked to lose none of their shine with a romping 46 – 16 win over the Knights at home last Saturday night led by their Origin stars backing-up.
Could this be the 2016 NRL Grand Final preview?
