The second week of byes for the 2016 NRL Telstra Premiership are upon us for Round 15 with State of Origin Game 2 coming up next Wednesday night in Brisbane.
Upset NRL Round 15 Tip: Storm to beat the Dragons on Saturday night @ $2.15 through Ladbrokes.com.au
There are just the four games to enjoy this week then starting with Friday night’s South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Parramatta Eels clash at ANZ Stadium.
This is a case of two teams that can play extremely rubbish football, especially the out-of-form Bunnies who have slipped down to 12th on the NRL Ladder.
The Burgess boys just haven’t shown up this season despite the hype surround Sam’s return, and even rep stars like Greg Inglis did little but drop the ball in last week’s 30 – 14 loss to the Tigers.
The Eels meanwhile are just outside the Top 4 sitting fifth in the rankings having scored the good 10 point win (22 – 12) over the Titans last Saturday night.
With Souths playing without their Origin stars their outstanding record over Parramatta counts for little, the Bunnies having won their past seven games against the Eels at this stadium, and they’ll be underdogs in NRL betting tonight.
The Saturday night clash this week has the St George Illawarra Dragons hosting the Melbourne Storm at WIN Stadium.
Despite their rivals sitting top-of-the-table, the Dragons are clear favourites for the win as the Storm are tipped to struggle without their rep players including Cam Smith and Cooper Cronk who are the backbone of this club.
Last weekend Melbourne made a mess of the Roosters with a runaway 46 – 0 win over the Chooks, but even that isn’t enough to sway markets in their favour against the Josh Dugan-less Dragons who are out to atone for their 16 – 34 loss to the Bulldogs last Monday night.
The Dragons also play without Tyson Frizell who goes into the Origin squad for the suspended Wade Graham, meaning there could be value sticking with the Storm here.
Sunday afternoon sees the New Zealand Warriors dominant favourites to defeat the 15th-ranked Sydney Roosters.
This is the only time of year you can consistently back the Warriors for a win, and with the home ground advantage at Mt Smart Stadium and a side untouched by Origin they’ll be hard to beat.
They easily accounted for Wooden Spoon favourites Newcastle with a 50 – 14 win last Saturday, get the eight-day turnaround and play the second worst team in the competition with the Chooks kept scoreless last week.
Rounding out the NRL fixtures this weekend is the Gold Coast Titans vs Manly Sea Eagles clash on Monday night.
The Titans are at home and looking to make up for their loss to the Eels away last Saturday.
Manly meanwhile are ravaged by Origin camp again and were very disappointing in the second-half last week against the Panthers at Brookvale, giving away a 24 – 4 advantage at half-time to lose 24 – 31.
