There’s more interest than ever in this week’s NRL Round 22 draw as the finals fast approach for the 2016 NRL Telstra Premiership and the NRL Grand Final on the first Sunday of October.
Upset NRL Round 22 Tip: Dragons @ $4.20 to beat Brisbane on Thursday night through Ladbrokes.com.au!
Thursday night footy is a must-win for the out-of-form Brisbane Broncos who lost again in another shocking performance a week ago beaten 32 – 16 by one of the competition’s worst – the Sydney Roosters.
Brisbane play in Sydney again tonight at WIN Stadium hosted by the Dragons (12th) and the bookies are staying faithful with the visitor’s red hot favourites to win despite the club having lost six of their past eight games played. There could be hope for them though with St George in a similar rut losing four on the trot with Josh Dugan out.
On Friday night we stay south of the border with the Parramatta Eels (14th) playing Manly who shoot for their fifth win on the trot. The Sea Eagles are favourites and enjoyed an easy 36 – 16 victory over the Wooden Spoon-placed Knights last Sunday at Brookie.
Saturday has Newcastle looking to atone when they host the Bulldogs at Hunter Stadium, but big NRL odds will be on offer for the home side as the fifth-ranked Canterbury club come off the three point win over St George from last Friday.
The blockbuster of the round is the second on Saturday afternoon at Shark Park with this year’s top-ranked team Cronulla hosting the third-placed 2016 surprise package Canberra.
The Sharks incredible winning streak ended last Monday night, but they didn’t come away with a loss, instead kept to an 18-all draw by the Titans on the Gold Coast in an extra-point thriller.
Cronulla will be looking to get back to outright winning form over the Raiders who ran all over the Rabbitohs in a 54 – 4 thrashing last round. At home as favourites the Sharks have won 10 of their past 12 and the money is there for it again, but the value tip is in an upset here.
The last on Saturday has the Bunnies at the biggest odds of the round when they look to lose by a less embarrassing margin down in Melbourne at AAMI Park playing the second-ranked Storm. The stats are all about the favourites with Melbourne winning 21 out of the past 25 against their bunny side South Sydney.
Sunday has a seventh vs eighth Top 8 affair at the Gold Coast with the Titans getting home game advantage again this time hosting New Zealand. The Titans showed they were more than capable of a finals bid with the Shark tie last week and there’s added interest after their surprise signing of the code-hopping Jarryd Hayne who could line-up this weekend.
The Tigers then face a tough home game at Leichhardt Oval with the North Queensland Cowboys, coming off their loss to the Storm, looking to remain in the Top 4 with an away win as they likely welcome back co-captain Johnathan Thurson; before Monday night has the ninth-placed Panthers player the Chooks.
